Heli-Hiking on a Glacier

So today we took a short 10 minute helicopter ride up to Franz Josef Glacier, where we got out, strapped Crampons to our boots and hiked up the Glacier through interesting ice formations and around giant gaping holes we could easily fall through.  It was great fun, the weather was perfect, and the views were incredible.  We were grouped up with a bunch of young travelers around college age that were all part of a huge tour group going around the country for that age group.  We had already met some of them during our kayaking in Queenstown.  So Erin and I were the old fogeys of the group, you know, the ones with careers.  A group of the guys even decided to strip naked and get a picture on the glacier (our guide was telling stories of such wild ideas, I think he was hoping the girls of the group would have taken him up on it)  All in all it was a fun day.  To top it all off Erin and I got massages and took a dip in the "Glacial hot pools." Just a dressed up hot tub/pool but it was fun.  And tomorrows activities should be even more exciting!
