While getting ready for our scubaing adventure for the day, Alberto (the caretaker on the island) comes running up to me and hands me a phone saying it is the owner of the island, Ronny. Ronny tells me the scuba boat will not be taking us back to the island and instead it will take us back to Placencia since the islands are all being evacuated for the coming storm. Great we have 30 minutes to pack all our stuff, throw it in an old canoe that I thought Erin and I were probably going to fall out of and get it on the diving boat. Erin, always organized, had plastic bags for all our electronics and everything already nearly packed as soon as I got off the phone. Alberto first took our luggage out to the boat and then Erin and I alone in the canoe and tried not to make fools of ourselves as we slowly paddled in the general direction of the boat.
The scuba trip was pretty great, we saw a massive nurse shark in a hole in the reef on the first dive. Before our second dive though my prescription mask broke and I had to do the dive foggy and nearly blind. We've found a way to bandage it together for the rest of our stay but a trip to a dive shop is in store for Erin and I when we get back.
After diving Ronny met us and drove us back to Laru Beya where Tim gave us a discount and we plan to ride out the storm for two nights. It's a weird feeling being sad at a Tropical Resort, but at least we have A/C again and we can see everyone's photos of our wedding.
