Florida to Hawaii, with 1 day to prepare.
New Orleans Part 2
Spent the first part of today recuperating from the last part of yesturday with a stop at the famous Cafe du Monde for some milk and Beignets. We then headed to the Aquarium to enjoy some more beach/ocean wildlife related activities.
It was pretty amazing, it had more varriety than I imagined it would, we even got to feed some birds. This is Peter the Parakeet (if it's not obvious, Erin is insisting the animals be given names on our site)
We also went to the Butterfly Garden and I have to say Chicago's has it beat hands down. After another amazing meal in the French Quarter we headed back to the RV for some relaxing and organizing before our 8 hour drive back tomorrow. Such a price was well worth staying the extra day though.
New Orleans!
St. Joseph Peninsula
Devil's Den
Ginnie Springs
Today we dove in Ginnie Springs. There were 3 spring openings we were allowed to dive in (if we had cave diving certification we could have dove from one to the other all underground). It was a great experience. I also wore our Go pro the entire time and it got some great video we plan to post when we get some time to figure out how to edit it and get it online. After diving all 3 springs, it started to get crowded with the drunk college crowd (who thought it was cool to drop rocks into the springs with scuba divers below them) so we left.
To Manatee Springs!
We woke up early today to make it to Manatee Springs. It's a little south west of Gainesville. We got here in time to check out the spring, it had been raining, surprise surprise, so we were excited to have the spring nearly to ourselves. However Erin was surprised when she discovered how cold the spring was & decided she didn't want to swim as bad as she did when she first saw the spring. Turns out most of the water coming out of the springs around here we came to scuba dive is a constant 72 degrees. I think wet-suit rentals will be in our future.
