Today we boarded a beach ferry at Kaiteriteri and took it all the way up the coast and back to a place along the "Abel Tasman Great Walk" that goes along the coast. The ferry allows us to do a 2 hour section of the 3-5 day walk and get a taste for it without needing to carry any heavy packs. It was pretty great and had some great views. I do feel if I come back to New Zealand I'd want to look up some of the great walks and see if I could do any of them. The only issue it seems is that the cabins for rent along most of the best ones can be booked solid 12 months in advance. So maybe that won't happen.
